This procedure procedure explains how to clean the mirrors on a Laser Etching Station. There are 3 laser mirrors on each laser unit.

Tools Needed:

	Lens Cleaning Paper
	Reagent Acetone
	Set of Allen Wrenches

PROCEDURE:

1. Shut down the machine, lockout power and then open the guard doors to access the laser.
2. Remove the 3 mounting screws from the first mirror.
3. Place the mirror on a flat surface with the mirror side up.
4. Inspect the mirror surface for dust particles or smudges.
5. To clean the mirror, first take one sheet of lens cleaning paper out of the package.
6. Next, lay the lens cleaning paper on top of the mirror and place a few drops of reagent acetone onto the paper.
7. Slowly drag the acetone soaked paper across the face of the mirror.
8. Inspect the mirror to make sure all dust particles and smudges have been removed.
9. Once clean, re-install the mirror.
10. Re-install the 3 mounting screws.
    
    Do not over-tighten the 3 mounting screws. They must only be tightened enough to compress the spring to about half its length. Over-tightening the mounting screws can cause mirror distortion, which will cause the laser to malfunction.
11. Clean the remaining two mirrors.
