Always
remove the Reverse Die, even if you are only going to change the Obverse Die.
This gives you more room to remove the die, thereby reducing the chance of
hitting a die surface and damaging it.
Clean the Observe
and Reverse Die housings to remove any old lube, dirt, coin dust, etc.
It is very important to keep these areas clean!! Feel the back of the Obverse
Die housing for excessive wear. If worn, you will be able to feel a small
ridge that has formed on the housing.
Next, apply a light coat of lubricant on the Obverse
and Reverse Die housings and mating surfaces.
Check the locator
pin in the bottom of the Obverse Die housing. The locator pin must be
upright and in position.
Then, apply a thin coat of anti-seize compound on the base of the new Obverse
Die, place the collar over the Obverse Die and then carefully place the die
and collar back into the housing.
Rock the die back and forth until the locator
pin slips into the notched area in the die. If the die is not positioned
correctly, the housing cover will not go on.
Position the Obverse Die housing cover and use the pry bar to engage the 2 clamping
pins. The pins should have enough tension on them so they "snap"
into place. If they do not snap into place, tighten the nuts on the clamping
pins.
Inch the press through a cycle and visually check
the position of the fingers. The fingers should not hit or rub against
the collar. If the fingers are not positioned correctly, the timing must be
adjusted.
Inch the press to 0
degrees (Bottom Dead Center). If the press is not at Bottom Dead Center,
you cannot install the Reverse Die.
Move the Feed
Plate gearbox to the SERVICE POSITION.

Die and then carefully place the
