How to Correct Pit Marks

Pit Marks on the Ground Surface of a Part appear as small pits on the Finished Part Surface. This condition can occur because of contamination on the Grinding Wheel, or by using too soft of a Grinding Wheel. When Pit Marks are observed on a Part it must be scrapped.

PROBABLE CAUSE:
1.
The inside of the Grinding Wheel Guard is dirty.
2.
The Coolant Filter needs to be replaced.
3.
The Grinding Wheel Dressing Increment between dressings is too large.
4.
The Grinding Wheel in use is too soft, which causes its own grains to come loose and damage the part.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
1.
Clean the inside of the Grinding Wheel Guard.
2.
Replace the Coolant Unit Filter Paper.
