How to Correct Step Marks
Step
Marks on the Ground Surface of a finished part will appear as high spots
or shoulders. This occurs when there are large gouges or chipped off edges on
the Grinding Wheel. When Step Marks are observed on a part it must be scrapped.

The Grinding Wheel is damaged. There are large gouges or chipped off (stepped) edges on the Grinding Wheel. |

Dress the Grinding Wheel until the step(s) and gouge(s) are removed. Click here for procedure |

If the condition is too severe to correct by dressing the Grinding Wheel,
replace the Grinding Wheel. Click here for procedure |
