This procedure explains how to replace cartridge filters. When the pressure going to the filter exceeds the maximum pressure, or the pressure coming from the filter has dropped below minimum pressure, banner alarms will be displayed and a message that the filter requires replacement will be shown. When this happens the filters must be replaced.

Resetting the alarm and running the machine again until the alarm goes off will only cause more serious problems.

PROCEDURE:
  1. Go to the Washer HMI and push the CYCLE STOP pushbutton.

If there are parts in the Wash or Rinse tanks, the washing/rinsing process will complete, the elevators will return to their "home" positions and the cycle will stop.
  2. Place the mode selector switch in the OFF position. This will shut down all pumps and motors.
  3. Place the main disconnect switch in the OFF position and lockout. This is done to prevent unwanted startups of the machine while the filter canister is open.
  4. Push in the E-Stop button located next to the Cartridge Filter Canister.
  5. Close the Rinse Filter Inlet Valve.
  6. Slowly open the Rinse Filter Drain Valve located underneath the Cartridge Filter Canister.
  7. Slowly open the Rinse Filter Vent Valve located on top of the Cartridge Filter Canister to relieve pressure.

To avoid personal injury, open the Rinse Filter Vent Valve on top of canister BEFORE opening Filter Canister! Opening the Rinse Filter Vent Valve releases pressure from canister and allows canister fluid level to drop to tank fluid level.
  8. Once all fluid is drained from the canister, close the Rinse Filter Drain Valve.
  9. Next, remove the canister lid retaining ring by unscrewing the nut on the threaded rod.
  10. Open the lid to expose the compression plate.
  11. Remove the jam nut.
  12. Turn the wing nut counterclockwise to remove it from the threaded rod.
  13. Remove the compression plate and expose the cartridges.
  14. Remove the seat spring assembly from the top of each cartridge.
  15. Remove the cartridges and discard in an appropriate waist receptacle.
  16. Inspect the interior of the vessel and all components for wear, corrosion or damage. All damaged components are to be replaces. See manufactures literature for proper part numbers and part descriptions. The vessel should be rinsed out with clean water to remove any debris that is clinging to the interior of the vessel.
  17. Remove protective wrapping from the new filter cartridges before installing them. Slide the cartridges into guides and firmly press into the bottom seals.
  18. Install the top seat spring assembly on each cartridge, if the springs are not level check for improperly seated cartridges.
  19. Reposition the compression plate on the center post and tighten the wing nut.
  20. Replace the jam nut.
  21. Close the lid and properly position the retaining ring.
  22. Tighten the retaining ring.

Do not over tighten the retaining ring as there is the possibility of collapsing the vessel if the ring is tightened over 20 ft lbs.
  23. Close the Rinse Filter Vent Valve.
  24. Close the Rinse Filter Inlet Valve.
  25. Pull out the E-Stop button located next to the Rinse Filter.
  26. Restart the washer.

It will be necessary to bleed off any trapped air in the Filter Canister by opening and closing the Rinse Filter Vent Valve after the Washer System is started and the Filter System achieves operating pressure.
  27. Inspect the vessel for any leaks.
