Troubleshooting the DKAK Unit (201.19)

The DKAK Counter Units are used to monitor the operation of lube distributor blocks. Each DKAK Counter Unit has a piston inside it that is moved back and forth by the pressurized pulses of oil flowing through it. Protruding from the piston is a small metal rod. As the piston moves back and forth, the metal rod is sensed by a proximity switch mounted to the DKAK unit. Each sensing is recorded as a lube pulse. If the minimum programmed amount of pulses is not sensed within a minute, the press will shut down and generate a fault

Symptoms:

PRS02 Pulse Lube Count below minimum.

Incoming oil volume from distributor block 201.14 is at least 57 cm3/min.

Probable Cause:

1.

Faulty proximity switch.

2.
Pressure Switch not set correctly.
3.
Dirt inside unit.
4.
Faulty DKAK Unit.

Recommended Action:

1. Check proximity switch 05-PRS02 for proper operation. Click here for procedure
2.

Turn the pressure switch (201.18) setting down (do not go lower than 30 bar). If this does not solve the problem, be sure to turn the pressure setting back to what it was.

3.

Remove the screws on each side of the counter block piston. Pull the piston out of the block and clean it. Place the piston back into the counter block and restart the press.

4. If the problem still exists, replace the DKAK Unit. Turn the lubrication pump back on and check to make sure the lube pulse counter is working. If it isn't, you may have to turn up the pressure valve in order for it to work.
