The press slide is normally stopped near Bottom Dead Center
(0 ± 60 degrees) when the clutch is disengaged. However, some circumstances
(worn brake pads, rotary cam limit failure) can cause the press to stop near
Top Dead Center (170 - 190 degrees). When this happens, use the following procedure
to move the press back to Bottom Dead Center.
PROCEDURE:
- Open the far side access door and check the indicator
dial on the drive shaft to see at what angle the press stopped.
- If the press stopped past
180 degrees, go to step #5. If the press stopped before
180 degrees, push the F2
key from the Main Menu to bring up the Operation
Screen.
- Then, push the H
key to place the Main Motor in reverse.
If the Main Motor was running, it will automatically turn off when the H key
is pushed.
- Push the MACHINE
ON pushbutton located on the Main Control Panel. The green light in the
button flashes as the motor ramps up to speed and then turns solid.
- Close all doors and push the DOORS
LOCK pushbutton.
- Turn the Mode Selector Switch to the SET-UP
STARTING RPM position.
- Push the CLUTCH
ON pushbutton to single stroke the press. It may take several attempts
before the slide moves.
- If press still won't move, push the F2
key on the Operation Screen. This brings up the Pre-Selections
Screen.
- Push the K
key to place the press in "Run Free With Max. Speed" mode. The
indicator
light turns yellow. This allows the press to run in Single Stroke Mode
at the set press speed.
This
should only be done to free a seized slide!
- Close all doors and push the DOORS
LOCK pushbutton.
- Push the MACHINE
ON pushbutton located on the Main Control Panel. The green light in the
button flashes as the motor ramps up to speed and then turns solid.
- Push the CLUTCH
ON pushbutton to single stroke the press. Repeat if the slide doesn't
move.
- If the slide still won't move, increase the air
pressure (maximum 10 bar) to the Clutch / Brake unit and repeat step #12.
Once
the slide is free, return the air pressure to 5.5 bar. Running the press continuously
above 6.0 bar can damage the Clutch/Brake Unit.
NEVER attempt
to cut or grind the die away to free the press. When stuck on Top Dead Center
the dies are under extreme pressure. Cutting or hitting the dies could cause
pieces of the die to fly off at a high rate of speed and cause serious personal
injury.
- Return the press to normal operating mode.
